Greenway’s was started in Covington, Virginia, by Ralph Greenway. George Garten purchased Greenway’s from Mr. Greenway in 1960 and worked with Ralph as partners until his death in 1986. George’s son, Tommy Garten, worked by his father’s side in the real estate and auction business through the years. Tommy’s sons, Matt and Dizzy, joined the family business as soon as they could start holding up items at auctions.
Matt and Dizzy graduated from auctioneer’s school and went on to earn their real estate broker’s licenses and real estate salespersons’ licenses, respectively.
Today, Greenway’s is one of the fastest-growing, full-service auction and real estate brokerages in the area with 2 locations: Covington, Virginia, and White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Greenway’s does over $20 million in yearly sales and completes approximately 50 personal property and/or real estate auctions a year throughout the Mid-Atlantic states.
